World Petroleum Congress: Event of a Global Scale

Moscow will play host to the 21st World Petroleum Congress which will be held on 15-19th of June 2014. This event is expected to be the largest ever in the WPC history. Among the Congress participants are 3000 delegates including 30 Ministers, top-managers and heads of industry organizations from 80 countries. The Head of the Organizing committee is Arkadiy Dvorkovich, the Vice-Chairman of the Russian Government.

The World Petroleum Congress was established in 1933 with the intent to promote the management of the world's petroleum resources for the benefit of mankind. And since then every three years, the World Petroleum Council organizes the Congress as the principal meeting place for a global discussion of oil and gas issues.

According to World Petroleum Council decision, adopted in October 2010 at Beijing (China) Council meeting, Russia was selected as a host for the 21th WPC.

The following persons are in the list of the Congress participants:

  • Secretary General, OPEC;
  • General Director of PEMEX;
  • President of BP Russia;
  • Vice President of BP, the USA;
  • President of Exxon Mobil;
  • President of Petrobras;
  • Heads of Statoil Company, Norway;
  • Managing Director and Director (Finance) ofONGC Videsh Limited, India;
  • General Director of Gazprom expo LLC;
  • and many others.

The total number of participants is over 5000.

The World Petroleum Exhibition will be held under the auspices of the Congress in “Crocus Expo”, Moscow Exhibition Center.

Over 600 exhibitors from 50 countries are expected to take part in the exhibition of the 21st WPC on the total space of 50,000 sq. meters gross. The participants will show their commitment to solve urgent problems as well as their contribution into environment conservation.

The center of the WPC exhibition is the Global Business Opportunities Center (GBOC) which features exhibits from the national committees of the World Petroleum Council, where most national oil and gas companies are presented.
