«SOUTH STREAM»: OFFSHORE PIPELAYING SUSPENDED FOR A MONTH

Head of department for RF government agencies relations Vladimir Markov declared that pre-construction activities are being carried out routinely, every day, but it was concluded to shift construction commencement date to December 15 (approximate date).

Mr.Markov pointed out that there is no pipeline construction delay on the territory of Russia and “South stream” will be finished in due time. According to Mr.Markov’s opinion sanctions would not affect the progress of gas pipeline offshore sector construction. “South stream” project satisfies internal rate of return parameters established by Gazprom even providing the increasing cost of pipeline construction.

“South stream” capacity – 63 billion cubic meters. Gas pipeline is planned to be laid through Central and Southern Europe in Black sea waters to avoid transit risks and diversify gas export routes.
